Join our dynamic eResources team and leverage your expertise to develop, problem-solve, and enhance efficiency. As a vital member of our team, you will contribute significantly to supporting essential OCLC resources like the Knowledge Base, Collection Manager, and Central Index. Collaborate seamlessly with various experts to implement changes and system enhancements efficiently, primarily focusing on supporting large-scale Hadoop processing, a crucial element powering key functions for the Worldcat database and related services. Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently delivering high-quality technical solutions within specified timelines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • 5+ years of development experience using industry-standard methods.
  • Proficiency in Java development with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of Hadoop experience, including expertise in Spark and Hbase.
  • 2+ years of Linux development experience.
  • Familiarity with RDBMS technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to effectively enhance complex system areas for new features, bug fixes, and optimizations.
  • Contribution to long-term code maintainability and robustness through peer code reviews.
  • Support for internal teams and end-users across various environments, including production.
  • Understanding and ability to articulate object-oriented design principles, data structures, common design patterns, and REST best practices.

Other Desired Experience:

  • Kafka
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Shell, and Perl.
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot.
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of IntelliJ, Maven/Gradle, Ubiquity, git/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to AWS and Snowflake.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes.
