(CHI) is leading on the clinical and operational transformation of acute paediatric healthcare and consists of hospitals at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght as well as an Urgent Care Centre at Connolly hospital in Blanchardstown.

Senior Medical Scientist / Biomedical Scientist 0.5 WTE

Biochemistry department- National Newborn Bloodspot Screening Laboratory (NNBSL)

Only candidates who eligible to work in Ireland full-time and do not require Critical/ Irish visa are eligible to apply as this is urgent critical role

Purpose of the role:

· To provide a safe, efficient, quality laboratory service in conjunction with other Medical Scientists, to satisfy the needs and requirements of service users whose samples are tested as part of the Irish National Newborn Screening Programme.

· To support the implementation of a quality management programme which is patient centred and which measures and audits performance.

· Assist in training staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships.

· As part of the laboratory team, progress assay and instrument verifications as the number of disorders screened for increases.

· Work with senior colleagues to progress moving the laboratory service to the New Paediatric hospital in St James campus

· Identify and implement operational processes to the standard of best practice in order to optimise use of resources

Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:

· 4 Years Post Graduation experience working as a Medical Scientist

· Have experience working in a biochemistry, metabolic or molecular laboratory

and

· Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin, Grangegorman (A)

or

· Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course (B)

or

· Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994 (C)

or

· Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to C)

or

· Bachelor in Science degree with Honours for Biomedical science (which is recognized as a Health & Care Professions Council, UK (HCPC) approved)

or

· A recognised qualification at least equivalent to (A) - (E) above;

and

· A postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science

or

· Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences

and

· Be registered with CORU by 31st March 2021

or

Be currently registered with HCPC or be eligible for registration as a Biomedical

Scientist

Applicants who qualified outside Ireland must provide evidence from CORU Medical Scientist Registration Board that theirqualifications have been approved for Medical Scientist and meet criteria for recognition including CORU Application Reference number.
