Purpose of Role:

Aftercare services are designed to support individuals who have already received assistance in their preparation for adulthood, whether from foster carers, social workers, or residential workers. The company currently has open positions in aftercare, transitional care, and outreach work with young people and vulnerable adults living independently or in Family/Foster Care Setting.

Barrog Healthcare is a small private health & social care organization based in Dublin, offering services nationwide. We focus on providing residential care and day packages to individuals requiring support in mental health, disability, aftercare, transitional, and mainstream social care. Job Title: Social Care Worker

Salary: Starting from €15 hourly

Job Type: Full time, Part time

Working Hours: 12-hour day shifts, 12-hour overnight shifts. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary due to the nature of the role requiring 24/7 availability.

Reporting Relationship: This role will report to the Aftercare coordinator

Probation: 6 months

Vetting: All applicants will undergo reference checks, Garda Vetting, and security clearance checks.

Essential Criteria:

Permission to work in Ireland

Candidates must possess a relevant qualification, such as a B.A. in Social Care, Fetac Level 7, B.A. in Applied Social Studies, or equivalent.

Applicants for the role of Social Care Worker must:

  • Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board (CORU)

OR

  • Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application required)

OR

  • Be eligible for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board (CORU) - evidence of application required

AND

Possess the necessary knowledge and skills for the proper discharge of duties.

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Full clean driver's license
  • One year of experience in a Social Care setting
  • Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans
  • Previous experience working with and supporting individuals with challenging behavior and mental health

Candidate Skills / Experience

  • Ability to support individuals without judgment and from a trauma-informed perspective
  • Capability to prevent and manage challenging behavior
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in information technology and report creation

Main Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development and execution of Care/Placement plans and maintain accurate records
  • Promote the rights and responsibilities of each individual
  • Encourage attendance at essential appointments and activities
  • Liaise with families, services, and agencies on behalf of the individuals
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures
  • Contribute to home management tasks and meal preparation
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and reports as necessary
  • Stay informed of legislation and professional knowledge
  • Engage in continuous professional training and supervision
  • Other duties as assigned
