Position Overview

The Compliance Function, as a second line of defence within the AIU System of Governance Framework has the following key objectives: -

· Assessing and overseeing AIU's regulatory compliance risks, and providing advice and guidance to the accountable business owners to mitigate these risks, in accordance with the legal, regulatory and conduct risk appetites set by the AIU Board.

· Providing assurance to the AIU Board that the entity is operating within the regulatory framework applicable to its business, in particular, the supervisory framework of the Central Bank of Ireland.

· Promoting an organisational culture that encourages ethical behaviour and a commitment to compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Head of Compliance (who also the Data Protection Officer) and Compliance team colleagues, to meet the above key objectives, by driving the effectiveness of the AIU Compliance Framework.

Essential Job Functions:

Essential Job Functions are described in individual performance objectives but will include:-

Compliance Advice and Monitoring Strategy

· Accountability for regulatory risk in support of the AIU Business Plan: tracking and assessing emerging regulation and guidance to ensure compliance within the business; driving knowledge sharing and the dissemination of consistent best practice standards.

· Support the regulatory compliance risk remediation programmes, providing transparent action plans and assurance reporting.

· Contribute to the delivery of the Compliance monitoring plan as well as the continued development thereof, resulting from outcomes of regulatory horizon scanning as a key driver.

· Support the Head of Compliance with the provision of Compliance advice and the formation of monitoring strategies as prescribed in the annual Compliance plan.

· Support the Head of Compliance as Data Protection Officer (DPO) to foster a Privacy by Design culture and, as required, to oversee the effectiveness of the AIU Data Privacy program.

Reporting and Assurance

· Support the Head of Compliance to provide relevant stakeholders with regular reports assessing the status of compliance risk, and recommendations to promote effective compliance systems and controls.

· Accountability for reviewing performance against the Compliance plan and providing Key Performance Indicators.

· Maintain the 'open door communication policy' to assist colleagues to understand the regulatory compliance environment within which AIU operates; including provision of relevant training.

Other duties may be assigned in order to meet the on-going needs of the Company.

Qualifications

· Educated to degree level or equivalent

· Must hold or be working towards the LCOI qualification or progress towards is essential

Experience

· Minimum 3 years' experience working in a technical Compliance team in the financial services industry.

· Preferred minimum 3 years' experience working in a 1st line role with ability to understand the business perspective and delivery of fair outcomes to customers.

· Stakeholder experience in multi-functional regulatory change projects.

· Relevant experience in implementing effective regulatory risk frameworks.

· Experience implementing compliance risk management and control frameworks.

· Experience working in matrix organisations across multiple business lines, functions and territories.

· Understanding of EU Regulations e.g. Solvency II, Insurance Distribution Directive, GDPR, Conduct and Consumer Protection regulations and Guidance.

· Demonstration of critical analysis and decision making skills, coupled with communication and influencing skills, and the ability to quickly build relationships and establish credibility with stakeholders.

· Experienced Compliance professional who is not afraid to provide quality advice and guidance to

all areas of the businesses, constructively challenging the norm while fostering strategic alliances with key business areas.

· Team player, who can actively share knowledge, and support the technical and personal development of other Compliance team members.
