In this exciting role, you will play a key part in influencing water chemistry and treatment. You will collaborate with design engineering teams, construction, operations, and maintenance to ensure the efficiency of water systems across our global array of data centers, from on-site facilities to large campuses.

You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to define, design, detail, and document the specific water treatment features essential for our facilities. Your role will involve utilizing both prescriptive and performance-based design strategies.

As a crucial member of the team, your primary goal will be to uphold the water treatment features in our buildings to safeguard our workforce and maintain the integrity of our customers' data continuously.

Our expectations include leveraging your expertise to enhance our water system design standards continuously.


Key job responsibilities:

  • Driving enhancement in design standards and project approaches company-wide.
  • Collaborating with third-party design vendors to review concept designs and work in progress, ensuring compliance with set design standards and local codes.
  • Offering expert advice on water treatment across various global projects and working closely with mechanical engineering teams to align water treatment system objectives.
  • Coordinating with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to address queries and requests effectively.
  • Ensuring code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation, testing, inspections, and submittal review.
  • Conducting meetings with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) as necessary to secure approval for water treatment features.
  • This role may involve up to 25% travel.

The team comprises diverse professionals including Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection, Acoustics, and Controls Engineers dedicated to shaping the future of data centers.

Our team's primary focus is to achieve top-tier uptime for our clients and craft a portfolio of buildings prioritizing security, safety, and efficiency while meeting the escalating demands.

We ensure our technical decisions are justified and communicated directly to AWS leadership, striving for continuous innovation in our designs.

As a valued team member, you will play a pivotal role in influencing our business and driving positive transformations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 10 additional years of qualifying experience.
  • A total of 10+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry related to water quality and chemical treatment.
  • Proficiency in generating site and campus water mass balances to inform stakeholders regarding water infrastructure design and compliance needs. Strong comprehension of water treatment design solutions and scaling.
  • Familiarity with local water regulations, codes, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and industry standards and procedures for water treatment.
  • Experience in design review processes, specification development, establishment of design standards, and submittal review, including the ability to interpret construction documents for all trades.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Direct experience in process design, construction, and maintenance of water systems within the realm of water treatment, particularly in industrial, medical, or oil and gas settings.
  • Technical proficiency across a range of treatment technologies such as water softening, multi-media filtration, pH correction, membrane-based treatment, and various disinfection methods.
  • Knowledge of performance-based approaches to water treatment design as alternatives to prescriptive methods.
