In Ireland, Abbott employs over 5,000 people across nine sites. We currently have six manufacturing facilities located in Clonmel, Cootehill, Donegal, Longford and Sligo and a third-party manufacturing management operation in Sligo. Diabetes Care Kilkenny

Our new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, opening in 2024, reflects the growing demand for Abbott's global Diabetes Care products. The facility will be a centre for world-class engineering, quality, medical device manufacturing, and other science-based professionals to produce life-changing technologies, including the FreeStyle Libre 3, a system that automatically delivers real-time, up-to-the-minute glucose readings, with the smallest and thinnest wearable glucose sensor that provides unsurpassed 14-day accuracy and optional glucose alarms directly to smartphones. This enables people with diabetes to live the best and fullest lives they can.

In this role you will be a key member of the Kilkenny team with responsibility for the implementation of Business Excellence system and practises across the site through internal collaborations and technical capabilities, delivering high impact sustainable business results.

You will require capacity to apply skills/knowledge within the context of specific needs or requirements.

As a Operational Excellence Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Implements the Kilkenny Operational Excellence system across the site.
  • Facilitating teams across the site to deploy the lean tools to drive operational performance.
  • With input from key stakeholders maintain and improve key Performance Metrics and implement visual management of same.
  • Drives improvement of Key performance indicators
  • Act as a change Agent in the introduction of lean tools
  • Benchmark with other industries who are implementing Business or Operational Excellence.
  • Coach to teams across the site to develop the Operational Excellence competency

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Level 7 Education in a relevant discipline
  • 4+ years' experience in a similar role/environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading and managing business excellence initiatives.
  • An exceptional communicator
