Salary: Appointment will be made on the IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€43,908 to €50,302 per annum], appointment will be made no higher than point 1 (PD1).

Post Summary

The Department of Sociology at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) seeks to appoint an outstanding and highly motivated Research Fellow with excellent qualifications. The successful candidate will join a research team working on the Migrant and Employer Strategies post-Brexit project. The project is a collaboration between Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and Trinity College Dublin (TCD), funded under the HEA North-South Research Programme and will investigate the real live experiences, intentions and strategies of EU migrant workers and employers in Ireland and Northern Ireland, who have been impacted by the change in immigration policy precipitated by Brexit.

The Department of Sociology, under the leadership of Professor Jan Skopek, will provide all logistical, academic and intellectual support by integrating the successful candidate into a dynamic network of academics located within the Department of Sociology.

Candidates with a strong interest in sociology, economics, employment studies, life-course research, qualitative longitudinal research, an MA, MSc or MPhil in Sociology, Social Research, Social Policy, and strong training in advanced social science methodologies, are particularly encouraged to apply.

Standard duties of the post

  • Critical, systematic and analytical review of relevant literature.
  • Conducting empirical research using qualitative panel study.
  • Writing academic pieces (articles/reports) in English.
  • Researching and contributing to grant applications.
  • Organising and attending meetings, workshops and conferences.
  • Disseminating academic work to specialised and general audiences.
