Job Overview

Responsible for the authorization of company resources to procure goods, equipment and services needed to meet customer requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Purchase order placement and expediting.
  • Supplier management and performance measurement.
  • Provide forecast of raw material requirements with internal and external vendors on a periodic basis
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure the best suppliers and components are utilized in the design; negotiate pricing, terms, availability and lead times with suppliers
  • Prepare supply chain summary reports of the BOM (Bill of Material) to clearly define cost, lead times, supplier locations, component reuse and supply chain strategies.
  • Procure materials for assigned departments. Prioritize, schedule critical material orders and negotiate with vendors to determine and assure best quality/service.
  • Source new raw materials / suppliers & manage the RFQ process when required.
  • Maintain and develop MRP including the placement of purchase orders, updating of pricing and following up of order confirmations.
  • Work closely with other members of the Operations team to identify & minimise risks to supply chain to ensure on-time delivery to customers and to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Develop and drive inventory reduction strategies and activities to achieve inventory targets and minimise excess & obsolete.
  • Identify & implement cost reduction strategies with supplier base
  • Liaise closely with relevant functions to ensure the planning and control process is supported by accurate BOMs, routings, yields etc.
  • Provide support to other team members in fulfilling the agreed company objectives and strategy.
  • Collaborate regularly with Supply Base Managers to ensure alignment with strategic sourcing goals & initiatives
  • Work as required with engineering to ensure supplier products are qualified

What your background should look like:
  • Three or more years of purchasing and/or production planning or other relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of MRP in SAP environment is desirable
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of assembly & manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage multiple orders in a fast paced operation.
  • Excellent proactive communication & organization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines and follow through.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP and Internet use.
