MISSION:

RCSI is looking for its next visionary leader to fill the role of RCSI Professor and Head of School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences. This position is a permanent professorial appointment within RCSI, specifically as Head of School. The appointee will report to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs during their tenure as Head of School.

The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in education, research, and executive management. They should possess a strong academic background in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences education, with a forward-thinking vision for advancements in areas relevant to the pharmaceutical and medtech industry, such as precision medicine and digital healthcare. They will build on current successes and foster a culture of excellence in education, ensuring the enhancement and ongoing development of educational programs while seeking out opportunities for future growth.

Additionally, the candidate must be a globally competitive figure in research related to pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and our broader thematic research areas. This appointment aims to significantly elevate the School's research footprint and reputation both nationally and internationally, contributing to RCSI's standing in the field of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic vision, leadership, and innovation to advance the objectives of the RCSI School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences in education and research at a local and global level.
  • Execute and evolve the School's strategic plan in alignment with RCSI's overall organizational strategy.
  • Enhance research funding and outcomes by empowering, developing, and supporting academic staff within the School, capitalizing on synergies within RCSI and beyond.
  • Elevate the School's educational standing by enhancing the quality of existing programs and exploring new avenues for growth at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and other relevant parties.
