We are recruiting an Actuarial Trainee (graduate or part qualified) on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to join our Pricing Function at AXA Ireland.

Based in our Dublin Head Office, you'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, either at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.


Working in the team you will provide reporting, insights, and analytical solutions which will shape and drive AXA's new initiatives within Pricing Management areas.

You will work in a team of Actuaries, data scientists, analysts, and engineers,
while your main responsibilities will include:

  • Support Pricing Management to deliver tasks for accounts as assigned as part of the annual objective setting process.
  • Support the monthly production of pricing data / apps / reports (Rate Adequacy, Account Expected Profitability, Conversion/Retention, Customer Fairness...)
o Data preparation

o Reports preparation / roll-forward

o Monitoring apps and automated reports development and maintenance

o Ad-hoc data requests & analyse

  • Prepare analysis for Account Review Meeting
o Profitability & Propensity analysis, including monitoring against plan

o Rate Change proposals and CCF preparation and implementation

o Post Imp review

  • Support development of all pricing model
o Data preparation

o Demand models development

o Risk cost models development

o Risk cost constraining & commercialisation

o Modelling tool development and maintenance

o Models performance review and model rebuild/adjustments when required

  • Support price optimisation proce
o Run the embedding process and propose refinement

o Model office development and maintenance

o Prepare new business price optimisation & support IT implementation (either containers or rating engines)


Is flexible within the role and prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time.


  • Minimum graduate level (actuarial 3rd level course or 3rd level degree in statistics / mathematics)
  • Strong knowledge of all tasks relating to area e.g. embedding, rate adequacy, rating changes, risk modelling, propensity modelling, account performance.
  • Experience using R, SAS, and Excel.
  • Good business knowledge of Retail products (product features, rating structures, IT systems, market...)
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to balance work demands & study for actuarial exams.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Team worker with responsibility & accountability for their own work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet tight reporting deadlines.


As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
