Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County.Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports.The ethos of service provision is underpinned by our Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Plan, which is to empower people with disabilities to live self-directed lives in an equal and inclusive society.Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.The Role:The provision of occupational therapy service using service user centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in line with Ability West's ethos, vision, policies and to interact as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and review of treatment/intervention programmes for service users according to service standards.Collaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment/intervention planning and in the provision of support and advice.Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.Essential Criteria:Candidates must satisfy Department of Health and Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for appointment as follows:Hold a recognized degree or equivalent and be eligible for membership with the AOTI.Registration with CORU required.Post-graduate experience as an occupational therapist in Disability Services sectorFull current driving license with access to your own vehicle (mileage will be paid at the appropriate rate)Desirable:Sensory integration training and experience.A genuine respect and empathy for diversity and individuality.A flexible, responsible approach to work.Professional, accountable, good planning and time management skills.What We Are OfferingPermanent ContractsAs part of our staff team you will be supported by regular support and supervision and access to the Employee Assistance Program.A wide variety of on the job training with core training interventions like Studio III and medication training.Have an opportunity to work in a person centred organisation and make a positive difference to people's lives and communities.A supportive and inclusive work environment where your ideas and input are valuedThe opportunity to grow and develop professionally in this role through training and experience.27 days annual leave initially plus public holidaysContributory pension scheme of 7%Flexible benefits and above statutory minimumBike to Work SchemeFour week rolling rosters to facilitate work life balanceFor informal enquiries please contact Shauna Thornton, Occupational Therapy Manager onClosing date of applications is 10th September ****
