About the Role
The Senior Executive Engineer will be required to lead a team or teams and to provide technical and managerial support across all local authority service areas and to liaise with external agencies.
They will work closely with the Senior Management Team and Elected Members to deliver services, implement local policy decisions and achieve strategic corporate objectives in line with the council's policy direction.
The role is interchangeable across directorates and may deputise for the Senior Engineer.
Responsibilities include management and delivery of major and minor capital projects, service delivery, and supervision of assigned staff.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of staff and the work programme of the directorates/department to which they are assigned, within the City's Corporate Plan.
Responsibilities
Lead a team or teams and provide technical and managerial support across local authority service areas.
Collaborate with external agencies and support the democratic process.
Deliver services, implement local policy decisions and achieve strategic corporate objectives.
Manage and deliver a range of major and minor capital projects; supervise assigned staff.
Deputise for the Senior Engineer when required.
About You / Qualifications
Experience of managing and leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
Ability to motivate, empower, encourage and achieve value for money from personnel and processes.
Experience managing and scheduling a multiannual portfolio of projects within budget and on time.
Experience maintaining sound employee relations and conflict resolution.
Track record of delivering results.
Understanding of local authority services and structures in Ireland or ability to quickly learn.
Ability to work with stakeholders and build consensus across bodies and groups.
Experience presenting updates, reports, and feedback to stakeholders; use learnings to improve operations.
Experience contributing to operational and strategic planning and implementing agreed aims.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
Experience managing finances and budgets with a focus on value for money.
Strong planning, operational and project management skills.
Ability to manage competing demands within deadlines.
Ability to schedule and programme work based on demand patterns.
Excellent report writing and ICT skills.
Focus on customer service and service improvement, with ownership of issues as they arise.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application in the workplace.
