Location: Ireland, Cork
Role: FTE (5 days per week)
Job Description:
Band / 2 Network Engineer
Knowledge of network devices such as switches, routers, wireless access points, preferably CISCO certified.
Understanding of assigning switch ports to specific VLANs.
Patch phone ports to switches as needed.
Troubleshooting Avaya VOIP phones (basic configuration).
Troubleshooting fiber links between switches, visualizing errors, and communicating with remote technical teams.
Replacing network switch chassis blades when required.
Good understanding of Data Center Infrastructure Management applications is a plus.
Conducting periodic visual checks of IDF rooms for cooling and power status, including UPS alarms and PDU health (minimum twice weekly).
Knowledge of Control-M, EMC Avamar, Data Domain.
Basic knowledge of monitoring tools such as Solarwinds.
Networking and operating system basics.
Assisting network and data center admins during technical troubleshooting.
Basic hardware knowledge, including servers and storage devices.
Understanding monitoring tool outcomes.
Basic knowledge of ITSM tools, preferably ServiceNow.
Basic knowledge of backup technologies, preferably EMC Avamar.
Basic understanding of operating systems like Windows 2003 Server, UNIX, and Linux.
Knowledge of Windows 2003 Active Directory, MS Exchange 2003, and File/Print Servers.
Experience in SLA-based environments.
Knowledge of server performance monitoring is preferred.
Ability to perform IMACD services (Install, Move, Add, Change, Disposal) for data center and network equipment.
Hands-on experience in large/medium enterprise data centers or hosting sites with servers, storage, and network devices.
Proficiency in local language and fluent in English communication.
