Role and context: This role forms part of the Executive management team in our Insurance entity.
This role holds the PCF 14 responsibilities.
EIID is an Irish regulated non-life insurance company operating in multiple jurisdictions with 6 branches, including a Third Country Branch in the UK regulated by the PRA/FCA.
The Company has grown significantly and has ongoing plans for growth and development.
We write specialty, property and casualty business.
The role holder will lead the development and implementation of our risk management function and will collaborate with senior colleagues across multiple functional areas and international Everest offices.
Role
The successful candidate will possess relevant industry experience, strong experience implementing best practice risk frameworks, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and excellent influencing skills.
The role requires significant experience within the non-life insurance sector and in-depth understanding of non-life insurance and strategic risks.
The role holder will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to manage a broad range of activities in a rapidly growing business.
The role holder will lead risk management activities across the organization, provide risk-based insights to support Everest in making the right business and strategic decisions, and work with senior leadership and multiple stakeholders to provide risk management advice, oversight and challenge.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the executive team to comply with regulatory and governance duties
Promoting continuous enhancement of Everest risk culture
Providing leadership and direction to the risk management team
Developing the Annual Risk plan and delivering actions against the plan, including coordinating actions to address regulatory developments relating to risk management
Supporting the ongoing development, implementation and embedding of a sophisticated risk management framework compliant with Prudential standards set by the CBI and PRA
Ensuring the firm's recovery plan is up to date and relevant
Ensuring key risk indicators and risk dashboards are in place and working with senior management on monitoring results
Managing and overseeing the Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process including stress tests and timely information to the Central Bank
Undertaking deep dive reviews of selected risks
Collaborating with stakeholders across senior leadership, department heads, and first line SMEs to provide risk management guidance and challenge
Liaising with Group ERM and deploying Group ERM tools and developments as appropriate
Overseeing the production of risk management papers and reporting for Management, Risk Committee and Board
Supporting and contributing to the annual business planning process
Competencies, skills and experience
Deep expertise in non-life insurance risks with strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks including CBI and PRA
Strategic and analytical mindset with problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
Collaborative approach and ability to build relationships across teams
Professional scepticism and the ability to challenge constructively
Clear and effective written and verbal communication
