Central Technology Services (CTS) is a centralised function within ET that architects, delivers, and runs shared systems and infrastructure across European entities, operating IT security underpinning all IT activities.
The CTS Application Services function provides IT services for shared and corporate solutions directly to end customers within European entities and central functions of ET.
The solutions include on-premise business applications, SaaS solutions, IT tools, bespoke application development, data platforms, integrations, and automation of business and IT processes.
CTS Application Services is seeking a Software Development Manager to join its management team, reporting to the Head of Function.
This role will oversee the software development practice, managing a team to deliver and support bespoke solutions and platforms with a strong engineering focus.
The work portfolio includes multiple projects of varying sizes and demands.
The manager will collaborate closely with other management team members (Portfolio Manager, Automation & Control Manager, Business Applications Manager, Lead Application Architect) to meet the function's plans and demands.
The selection process involves submitting an application, presenting a case study in advance, and a competency-based interview.
Key Accountabilities
Own and continuously improve the practice of Software Development across the entire function, spanning all technologies, SDLCs, standards, patterns, and tooling.
Manage the software delivery pipeline at both macro (budgeting, planning, forecasting) and micro (work request allocation, funding, charging, execution) levels.
Lead, develop, and motivate the software development team to achieve their maximum potential.
Ensure solutions are developed in accordance with quality standards, controls, architecture, security standards, and cost considerations.
Collaborate with Release Management for environment readiness and controlled deployment of software assets.
Sustain software solutions according to SLAs, providing ongoing fixes and improvements.
Work with Architects, Project Managers, Analysts, and IT management to contribute to business cases, estimations, plans, and optimal design and execution.
Develop relationships with key stakeholders within CTS, across European Technology, and the Global Corporate Technology function.
Represent the function in relevant communities.
Track and report on key performance indicators.
Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
Essential experience includes:
Over 10 years of proven experience in software development teams.
Technical leadership in software development and engineering practices, design, and implementation patterns.
Solutions include applications (thick/thin clients), data reporting & analytics platforms, integrations, reporting, and automation.
Technologies required:
Experience with version control, CI/CD tools, code analysis, and test management.
Experience with Power BI, Excel Power Query/Power Pivot is desirable.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming, SQL, web development, security, and open-source technologies.
Experience delivering and maintaining software in agile environments with leading tools, techniques, and KPIs.
Regular software releases to production.
Automation of build, deploy, test, and release processes.
Experience with on-premise and cloud environments, notably MS Azure.
Management of development teams includes:
Leading a team of developers.
Managing multiple projects and change requests.
Collaborating with cloud engineers in a DevOps framework.
Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable experience:
Delivered solutions within the Financial Services industry.
3rd level degree in IT or related fields.
Core competencies include leadership, innovation, change management, operational excellence, team collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork.
