Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Athlone, Ireland Salary: €45K €65K DOE Role: Were seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an award-winning MEP consultancy in Athlone.
This is a permanent role offering an excellent package for the right candidate.
Youll lead on sustainable, energy-efficient projects across the full lifecycle, from design and project management through to inspections and client handover, within commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and residential sectors.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with Project Directors to define project requirements and deliverables Develop and implement mechanical design solutions tailored to client briefs Prepare detailed reports, budget estimates, and client cost plans Lead and mentor junior engineers/technicians, assigning weekly deliverables to meet project deadlines Attend site meetings, conduct inspections, and produce detailed technical reports Review contractor technical submittals and verify installations against design requirements Develop and oversee BCAR inspection plans at key project stages Ensure full design coordination with other disciplines while managing client relationships Disseminate mechanical engineering knowledge and provide mentorship to junior staff Requirements: 3+ years mechanical design experience within a consultancy environment Level 8 Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering (Chartership-recognised) Strong knowledge of HVAC, water services, drainage design, and Irish building regulations Proficiency in Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Strong reporting and technical documentation skills Benefits: Salary: €45K €65K + annual performance-based bonus 22 days annual leave (increasing by 1 per year up to 27) Flexitime with core hours Company pension scheme Employee Assistance Programme & critical illness cover Annual health checks & wellness initiatives Interested?
