Project Scoping, Programming and Commercial Management
As a Civil Planning Engineer, you will deliver civil engineering services and coordinate technical specialists from project inception through planning stage design and submission for electricity infrastructure projects at ESB.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake planning stage designs for HV substation projects, including developing planning drawings and coordinating specialist inputs such as hydrology, ecology, and geotechnical.
Provide technical civil engineering expertise during the development phase of HV substation projects to facilitate planning consent and capital approval.
Undertake the Lead Engineer role for projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary designs, interfacing with clients and stakeholders, and managing fees and programmes.
Relevant training will be provided.
Specify, manage and be accountable for sub-contractor and sub-consultant inputs for all necessary stages of the projects.
Coordinate with various stakeholders, including local authorities, customers, consultants, and landowners, to ensure project milestones are met.
Promote and actively participate in the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating a visible commitment to safety.
Improve and standardize processes by implementing feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
Support the technical and professional development of junior staff.
Experience and Qualifications
Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or planning stage design.
Strong technical skills in civil engineering and/or planning stage design.
Proven ability to deliver results for significant projects and manage key aspects of projects.
Clear commercial focus and excellent communication skills.
Strong safety awareness, communication and technical report writing skills.
Valid full driver's licence for use in the ROI, access to a car, and the flexibility to travel nationwide.
Experience in delivering civil engineering / utility projects.
Experience in planning stage design and submission within the jurisdiction.
Experience in performing Lead Engineer and/or PSDP role on projects.
Chartered status or working towards chartered status in a recognized professional institution.
Location
This position will be based in one of ESB E&MP's Offices at Dublin Airport or Eastgate, Cork.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
