As Global Employment Counsel, you will lead Klaviyo's Global Employment & Business Affairs team and will work in close collaboration with Klaviyo's People Team and other teams across the company to define, collaborate, and advise on employment related matters, helping to protect our growing business and proactively manage potential employment-related risks. How you'll make an impact: Lead, mentor, and manage a global team of employment legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance cultureProvide strategic legal guidance and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including employee relations, performance management, internal investigations, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, culture initiatives, and employee data privacyPartner with Klaviyo's People team to evaluate, develop and maintain employment and HR policies, procedures, and guidelinesDraft and review employment related agreements and templatesSupport global legal strategies and partner with local counsel to advise on international employment issuesManage employment-related litigation, internal investigations, and other employment related inquiriesConduct audits, employment classification reviews and support other compliance effortsMonitor important developments in employment law in the jurisdictions Klaviyo operates in globallyHandle other special projects as neededWho you are: Minimum 10 years of labor and employment law experienceStrong knowledge of Massachusetts and U.S. federal employment laws and best practices.
Knowledge of California employment law strongly preferredDeep knowledge and understanding of global employment laws, preferably including EMEA and/or APAC employment lawsQualification to practice law in Ireland or England/WalesIn-house experience and/or experience advising technology clients as outside counselExperience managing and leading a team of legal professionalsEmployment litigation experience, including discovery, strategy, and coordination with outside counselExperience with internal workplace or compliance investigationsWorking knowledge and familiarity with data privacy and protection laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and European General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) a significant plusA practical, business-oriented approach and excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into simple, actionable recommendationsHigh level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity and willingness to growThe pay range for this role is listed below.
Some sales and success roles are also eligible for variable compensation.
