Junior Database EngineerLocation:GalwayEmployment Type:Full-time, PermanentAbout UsWe are a fast-growing SaaS company on a mission to transform digital care management As we scale our global operations, we are building out our Infrastructure team to support a robust, secure, and high-performing platform.This is an exciting opportunity to join at theground levelof our new infrastructure function.You'll have the chance to learn from experienced colleagues, gain exposure to modern cloud technologies, and grow into a key technical role as the team expands.The RoleAs ourJunior Database Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and optimising our databases to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.You'll work closely with senior engineers to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve our systems, while also gaining hands-on experience with cloud and infrastructure projects.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the administration and maintenance of production and development databasesMonitor database performance, availability, and securityAssist in database backups, restores, and disaster recovery planningWrite and optimise SQL queries under guidance from senior engineersHelp implement automation and monitoring tools to improve efficiencyCollaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support new feature rolloutsDocument processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the teamWhat We're Looking ForDegree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database conceptsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) a plusStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to learnAbility to work in a fast-paced SaaS environment and adapt quicklyA proactive mindset, with great attention to detailNice to HaveExposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.)Understanding of database security and compliance principles
