St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive services for people with intellectual disabilities.
Founded in 1968, the Foundation has grown through continuously responding to the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
The Foundation offers services to children and adults, including day services, residential, respite care, and home support in North Cork and South West Limerick regions.
Locations include Charleville, Dromina, Newtownshandrum, Buttevant, Newmarket, Mitchelstown, Mallow, Ballylanders, Ballyagran, Bruree, Bruff, Croom, Dromcollogher, Granagh, Kilmallock, and Liskennett.
St. Joseph's Foundation is a lead agency in Cork Kerry Community Healthcare for the North West Cork and North East Cork Children's Disability Network Teams, based in Mallow and Fermoy.

Ideal candidates will have:
A qualification in Nursing and registration with An Bord Altranais (R.N.I.D. qualification desirable).
The ability to work independently and supervise service users/staff.
Experience in managing behaviour that challenges.

Reporting Relationship:
To CNM1, CNM2, Person In Charge (PIC), Area Manager
Relationships From:
Volunteers, staff as assigned.
Liase With:
All staff in Adult / Children's Services and Multidisciplinary Team.
Initial Hourly Rate:
As per contract
Commitment:
Residential Services (up to 37.5 hours per week)
Initial Assignment:
Rostered duty including 7/14 duty according to the service's rosters and mobility programme.

Job Goal:
To support service users in achieving their priorities, monitoring and meeting their physical, mental, social, emotional, and behavioural needs in compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
Main Duties:
Responsible for the well-being of service users in care.
Provide physical, psychological, and social care.
Recognize and report problems, and assist in implementing solutions.
Deliver care professionally, adhering to HIQA requirements in residential settings.
Foster family involvement and support communication with relatives and visitors.
Create a therapeutic environment tailored to individual needs, supporting normalization principles.
Incorporate expertise from others to enhance care quality.
Design and coordinate educational, training, and work programmes, liaising with the Line Manager/PIC.
Promote integration and social/leisure opportunities within the community.
Maintain records such as drug administration, progress reports, and nursing notes.
Support other nursing programmes and provide relief as needed.
Manage household budgets and local purchases.
Establish respectful, empowering relationships with residents to promote independence.
Leadership:
Support staff development, supervision, and training, ensuring compliance with legislation.
Lead and support team members in Person-Centred Planning and problem-solving.
Participate in team meetings, reviews, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Ensure adherence to Foundation policies and promote effective communication.
Respect and dignity in all interactions.
General:
Promote positive awareness of learning disabilities in the community.
Stay informed of developments in intellectual disability care and standards.
Act as a Key Worker for service users as required.
Must have a full clean driving licence, be willing to drive Foundation transport, and indemnify the Foundation on insurance; evidence required annually.

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personal and organisational information encountered during employment.
