Roughan & O'Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a resident engineer for the Waterford City Public Infrastructure Project scheme, Sustainable Transport Bridge, South Plaza Works, and the construction of the access infrastructure on the northern side of the river SuirLocation:Waterford City CentreAbout the roleAs a resident engineer on the Waterford City Public Infrastructure scheme , you will be part of the site-based team responsible for the supervision of the construction of the Sustainable Transport Bridge (STB) across the river Suir, the plaza on the southern approach to the bridge and the construction of the access infrastructure on the northern side of the river Suir.Youwill report directly to the project resident engineer.The STB is a 210m long, 8m wide pedestrian and cycle bridge linking the North Quays site and the city centre.The bridge features a central movable span to facilitate river traffic and a 5,000m2 public plaza on the bridge approach from the city side.The works will primarily involve:marine works consisting of combi-pile cofferdams,piling for pier foundations, construction of reinforced concrete pile caps and piersfabrication of steel superstructure for fixed and moveable spansmechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) of the double leafbascule spans attached to the fixed spans and associated control rooms and buildingsconstruction of an approach plaza to the southern bridge approach, consisting of a piled foundation, reinforced concrete slab, quay walls and all associated public realm and finishesworks on the north side of Waterford, including a widening of 800m of the Dock Road and the realignment of 350m of Abbey Roadworks for two new access roads over the existing railway line to the Strategic Development Zone siteworks for the construction of four bridge structures that span the existing railway and the proposed Waterford to New Ross Greenway and approximately 675m of retaining wall structures and engineered embankmentsDutiesYour duties will include supervision of:all marine works for the STB, including cofferdams and reinforced concrete substructuresall civil and marines works for the South Plazathe movable spans and associated infrastructure and commissioning of samesupervision of all earthworks, drainage and utility diversionssupervision of roadworks in an urban environment with extensive traffic managementsupervision of the construction of foundations, substructures and superstructures of bridge structuresDegree in engineering or construction management (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)At least 7 years' postgraduate experience in civil engineering works, with a minimum of 5 years' site based on bridge, marine or civil worksExperience in administering the public works forms of contractExperience of civil engineering projects involving construction works over environmentally sensitive watercoursesExperience in the review and monitoring of Environmental Operating Plan(s) for civil engineering projects, including at least one project involving works crossing or directly adjacent to environmentally/ecologically designated sites and sensitive watercourseExperience in implementing procedures and systems for accurate record-keepingKnowledge and awareness of health and safety legislationGood organisational skillsMotivated individual with a strong work ethicExcellent written and oral communication skillsFluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written EnglishAbout Roughan & O'DonovanRoughan and O'Donovan (ROD) is a leading civil, environmental and structural engineering consultancy.An independently-owned firm, we employ a multidisciplinary team of over 250 people, of 20 different nationalities, in our Irish and UK offices.When you join ROD, you will become part of a team recognised for outstanding technical skill and passion for excellence.You will have access to the exceptional training opportunities our award-winning CPD programme provides and enjoy a workplace that supports growth, flexibility and creativity.Address your cover letter to Human ResourcesRoughan & O'Donovan is an equal opportunity employer.For compliance purposes, Roughan & O'Donovan will retain, for at least one year, all records arising from the recruitment process.Roughan & O'Donovan is not accepting unsolicited CVs from search firms.CVs submitted by search firms without a valid written search agreement, including those submitted to hiring managers, are deemed to be the sole property of Roughan & O'Donovan, and no fee will be paid in the event of a candidate(s) being hired.#J-*****-Ljbffr
