Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our team in the food retail sector. The role will be the 1st in-house financial accountant so will suit someone who wants to grow & lead the finance function of a growing Irish business and have input to all aspects of the business from purchasing, operations and marketing. The Financial Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and stability of our fast growing company. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management: Oversee the preparation and management of the companys financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP). Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure sound financial management and protection of assets. Manage cash flow, ensuring efficient use of funds and meeting of financial obligations. Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with various departments to create accurate financial plans. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and business growth. Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making. Compliance & Risk Management: ** Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including tax filings and statutory reporting. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders. Monitor and manage financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential financial exposure. Team Leadership: Support the wider business with financial guidance and training as needed. In time Lead and develop finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Strategic Planning: Play a key role in the strategic planning process, providing financial insights and projections to support business objectives. Evaluate investment opportunities, including ROI analysis and financial modelling for new products or markets. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field; Masters degree or professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred. Payroll experience Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably within the food retail or FMCG industry. Strong knowledge of Irish tax laws, accounting regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency in accounting software Xero and advanced Excel skills.
