Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
Contract:

The CNS Colorectal Service is:
Accountable to the Director of Nursing
Professionally Accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing
Responsibilities include:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments covering physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects using evidence-based practices in colorectal care.
Lead in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating patient services.
Provide specialist nursing care for patients with benign or malignant colorectal conditions, supporting them through their continuum of care.
Develop and implement care plans based on patient assessments in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and patients' families or carers.
Participate in case reviews with MDT colleagues.
Manage complex patient needs through collaboration with MDT in primary and secondary care settings.
Contribute to the development of evidence-based practice guidelines related to colorectal care.
Advocate for patients' values and decisions, collaborating with MDT colleagues across care settings.
Support patient participation in decision-making, promoting informed choices.
Act as a resource for staff by providing expert knowledge and interventions.
Ensure a supportive clinical environment conducive to staff learning and education.
Practice within professional and ethical frameworks, acting as a role model.
Liaise with the Tumour Conference Coordinator for timely patient discussions and follow-ups.
Maintain accurate clinical records and collaborate with data managers for KPI reporting and care programs.
Develop quality assurance and audit systems to meet care standards.
Provide clinical leadership and contribute to the development and implementation of standards and guidelines.
Eligibility Criteria:
Registered nurse/midwife on the active NMBI register or eligible for registration.
Minimum 1 year of post-registration full-time experience, or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience in the specialist area.
Completed a post-registration program at Level 9 or higher (QQI/NFQ), relevant to the specialist area.
Demonstrated ongoing professional development relevant to the role.
Ability to practice safely and effectively within scope of practice.
