Cork city, Ireland | Posted on 02/10/2025We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedHealth & Safety Managerto lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the health and safety management system.This is a key operational role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent leadership capability, and a proactive approach to embedding a culture of safety excellence throughout the organisation.Ensure that all operations comply with Irish legislation, internal standards, and recognised industry best practices.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems tailored to a chemical manufacturing environment.Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety Authority (HSA) regulations and applicable legislation.Track and report on safety performance KPIs, including Frequency Rates, Observations, and Good Catches.Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce risks and environmental impacts.Lead and coordinate risk assessments, process safety reviews, and hazard identification studies.Manage and oversee audits, inspections, and monitoring programmes, ensuring regulatory compliance (including SDS development and implementation).Ensure consistent compliance across multiple sites (in-house and external).Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.Provide expert guidance, advice, and training to management and frontline teams.Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities, auditors, and third-party stakeholders.Foster and strengthen a culture of safety through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.Deliver regular health and safety performance reports to the senior leadership team.Manage and drive health and safety improvement initiatives across the business.Candidate ProfileStrong organisational, leadership, and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritise effectively.Innovative, pragmatic, and solutions-driven mindset.Ability to engage and influence teams at all levels towards shared safety objectives.Analytical approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.RequirementsMinimum Degree-level qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Health, or related discipline.In-depth knowledge of HSA requirements, chemical safety, and process safety legislation.Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within chemical manufacturing or process industries.Proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO ***** and ISO *****.Experience in managing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance (advantageous).Demonstrated expertise in risk management, process safety, and incident investigation methodologies.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.Must hold a valid working visa/permit for Ireland.Competitive benefits package including company pension scheme, death in service cover, and income protection.Comprehensive training and opportunities for further education and professional development.#J-*****-Ljbffr
