We are now looking for an experienced and passionate Full-Time Butcher to join our dedicated team and help us continue providing excellent products and service. Job Description As a Full-Time Butcher at Donovans Butchers, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the shop. You will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging meat, as well as assisting customers with their meat selection and providing expert advice on cooking and preparation. You will ensure all safety, hygiene, and quality standards are met while maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities: Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat (beef, pork, lamb, poultry, etc.) according to customer requirements. Ensure meat is correctly portioned and presented to the highest standards. Customer Service: Assist customers in selecting cuts of meat, providing advice on cooking methods and recipes. Maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor at all times. Handle customer orders efficiently, ensuring quality service and satisfaction. Stock Management: Monitor stock levels of meat and other products, ensuring freshness and quality. Assist with ordering, rotating, and replenishing stock to avoid waste and ensure product availability. Hygiene and Safety: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including cleaning and maintaining the butchers equipment and workspace. Follow health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Product Knowledge: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of different cuts of meat, preparation methods, and cooking techniques. Promote special offers, seasonal products, and new additions to the product range to customers. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the rest of the team to ensure smooth daily operations. Assist with training new staff members when necessary. Required Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a butcher, ideally with at least 2-3 years in a similar role. Excellent knowledge of different meat cuts, preparation techniques, and cooking methods. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact confidently with a diverse customer base. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and hygiene. A keen eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays. A genuine passion for meat and butchery is a must. Desirable: Formal butchery training or apprenticeship (not essential but preferred). Experience in sausage-making or other specialty butchery products.
