Organisation2rn is a wholly owned subsidiary of RTÉ and distributes and transmits the programme services of RTÉ Radio and Television, Virgin Media, TG4, Sky Television, and Today FM.We also provide transmission services to several local and regional radio broadcasters as well as site services to mobile telephone and broadband operators, private communications companies, and the emergency services.Job2rn have an opportunity for suitably qualified & experienced Broadcast Engineer to join the team in its National Network Monitoring Centre (NMC).Purpose of JobReporting to the Head of Network Integrity, the Broadcast Engineer's primary responsibilities will be to control and monitor the day-to-day operational status of the 2rn Analogue Radio, Digital Television transmission network and DTH platform, to identify issues and perform remedial action across the network as necessary utilising remote-control technologies and graphical user interfaces.The NMC Broadcast Engineer will be required to diagnose problems and service affecting issues across the transmission network and possess a level of understanding of the systems enough to undertake first line maintenance and remedial action prior to any escalation of an issue.The NMC is normally the first point of contact for the business customers of 2rn; it also deals with reception queries and requests for transmission information from members of the public.As such, the role is highly visible with a primary customer facing focus.Key Responsibilities include:Monitoring & Control of the 2rn Distribution Network, the 2rn Contribution Network, the 2rn Analogue Radio Transmission Network, the 2rn DTT Transmission Network and the DTH platform.Fault diagnosis and identificationSystems interrogation and fault analysisDissemination of data and information within 2rnCommunication to central and regional management regarding the nature of and duration of incidentsFirst line maintenance of the 2rn transmission systems networkPrimary liaison with the business customers of 2rnPrimary point of contact for the publicMaintenance and management of the 2rn websiteCollation of systems metrics data for spot trend and availability reportingPrimary contact liaison regarding transmission site access, and primary point of contact for lone working field-based staffSpecification of user requirement prior to any NMC upgradesKnowledge & Experience:Applicants must:Hold a technical qualification in electronics or telecommunications.Have previous experience working in a technical and business customer focused environment.Have strong IT skills including competency with MS Office applications.Demonstrate excellent customer service & communication skills (verbal & written), together with a professional telephone manner.Have the ability to work in a pressurised environment and to proactively engage in problem solving and first line maintenance.Be performance driven, goal oriented with excellent organisational skills.Be available to work shifts rostered over 7 days (currently 7am-3pm,3pm-12midnight, 10am-7pm & weekends 8am-10pm)RemunerationA competitive salary, plus shift allowance, will be offered dependent on experience and qualifications.The appointment will be made on an ongoing full-time contract basis on the Assistant Broadcast Engineer 2 salary scale from €34,391 to €43,965 gross per annum.To Apply:Applicants are invited to submit their Curriculum Vitae together with a brief cover letter that summarises what skills and experience they will bring to the role – please submit as one document when completing this online application process.Closing date for receipt of applications Thursday 11th SeptemberEquality Opportunities2rn is committed to diversity in its workforce and welcomes applications from people with diverse backgrounds.Cuirfear fáilte roimh iarratais ó dhaoine go bhfuil dearcadh dearfach acu i leith na Gaeilge.Applications are welcome from people who have a positive outlook to Irish.2rn is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applications without regard to gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, social experience, race and ethnicity, disability, civil and family status, religious belief, and membership of the Traveller Community.
