Overview
We are seeking a First Line Risk and Compliance Lead to join our AXA Ireland Team.
In this pivotal role you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing the Operational Risk Framework aligned with regulatory standards and business objectives.
The department's primary objective is to foster a strong risk and compliance culture across retail operations, ensuring effective control environments, regulatory adherence, and timely remediation of issues.
The team aims to support sustainable growth by providing risk and compliance guidance, promoting transparency, and embedding best practices in risk management and governance.
Through proactive oversight, stakeholder engagement and collaboration, the department strives to safeguard the firm\'s integrity, meet regulatory obligations, and deliver value to customers while maintaining AXA\'s values and high performance standards.
What You\'ll Be Doing
Lead by example in promoting a customer-first, compliant, and high-performing team culture.
Ensure effective risk and compliance oversight, regulatory adherence, and the continuous evolution of risk frameworks.
Provide expert advice, support decision-making, and drive accountability across the business.
Develop and maintain the Operational Risk Framework aligned with AXA and regulatory standards.
Oversee day-to-day risk management, including monitoring risk registers, controls, and incident management.
Provide timely legal and compliance guidance to support business decisions and ensure regulatory adherence.
Support the implementation of policies, standards, and controls; lead assurance activities and report on risk and compliance status.
Promote a strong risk and compliance culture through stakeholder engagement, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
5-7 years of total work experience.
3 years of management experience in an insurance business environment; some risk/compliance governance experience desirable.
A degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Statistics or related subject or equivalent experience.
Professional Certificate in Insurance (APA) with commitment to progress in insurance/compliance exams.
Strong working knowledge of key processes, structures and controls within the company.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements including Consumer Protection Code, Consumer Duty, Minimum Competency Code, Data Protection Acts, and relevant legislation by Central Bank of Ireland or FSA.
Ability to understand, articulate, challenge and influence stakeholders on risk and compliance topics.
Enthusiastic with high personal drive and energy.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

This role is an allocated Controlled Function under Fitness & Probity Regime with enhanced background screening.
Precondition to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
