Job Description: Nurse - Step Down Unit Location: Tipperary, Ireland Department: Step Down Unit Reports To: Unit Manager / Clinical Nurse Manager Position Summary We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Nurse to join our clients Step Down Unit in Tipperary. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from acute hospital settings to a less intensive care environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in patient recovery, promoting independence and improving overall patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Patient Care: Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. Monitoring: Regularly monitor patients' vital signs, progress, and overall condition, promptly reporting any changes to the healthcare team. Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately and safely in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure holistic patient care. Education and Support: Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them understand their care plans and recovery process. Discharge Planning: Assist in preparing patients for discharge by coordinating with community services and ensuring follow-up care is in place. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to legal and organizational standards. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all practices comply with infection prevention and control measures, health and safety regulations, and hospital policies. Qualifications and Requirements Education: Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification. Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in a hospital or clinical setting. Previous experience in a Step Down Unit, rehabilitation, or medical-surgical unit is highly desirable. Skills: Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Proficiency in electronic health record systems is an advantage. Other Requirements: Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and nights.
