Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
to join our team at Signacare Waterford Nursing Home.

Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing will hold responsibility for the home and report directly to the Director of Nursing.
The successful candidate will maintain and enhance the professional services and provision of care to residents, managing all operational matters (clinical and non-clinical) to improve resident outcomes.
The overall objective is to provide leadership and management to the team, ensuring the home\'s vision and values are understood and acted upon, and ensuring that the quality of service and care is always to the highest possible standard whilst adhering to regulatory requirements.
Principal Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership to the home and team.
Enhance and lead the delivery of person-centred care to residents.
Promote person-centred care that meets the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of residents.
Conduct audits and develop action plans.
Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidance.
Workforce planning and employment decisions including selection, mentoring and applying appropriate corrective actions.
Support and empower floor managers to effectively manage in their roles.
Encourage, mentor and monitor others for management and clinical decision making.
Analyse performance from business and financial perspectives and assist to achieve financial goals and objectives.
Ensure risks are proactively identified and escalate appropriately.
Ensure decisions to support objectives are made within budget.
Chair and conduct clinical and governance meetings.
Contract
Full-time, Permanent Contract
Requirements
A qualified RGN with at least 3 years' experience in the last 6 years in care of the older person.
Not less than 3 years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social care area.
Current registration with NMBI.
A post-registration management qualification in health or a related field.
Post-registration qualification in dementia care and gerontology, highly desirable.
Detailed knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, team members, management and external bodies (e.g. HIQA, HSE, GPs).
Strong planning, organisational, people management and financial management skills.
Evidence of continuous professional development.
