Title and Summary
The Database Engineer plays a critical role within the Processing Service Delivery organization.
This individual will lead initiatives, gather requirements, analyze and implement database designs, provide consulting, and drive best practices, governance, and standards in Database Engineering at Mastercard.
Overview
The Processing Service Delivery team seeks a problem solver who loves building and maintaining databases, automating processes, and leading Mastercard in database best practices across global teams.
Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, OEM, patching, upgrades, backups, restores, performance tuning, GoldenGate replication, and Exadata.
Experience managing diverse databases, especially backup, recovery, performance tuning, and high availability.
Knowledge of other database technologies like PostgreSQL and NoSQL is a plus.
Skills in infrastructure automation and scripting.
Strong communication, collaboration, and proactive expectation management skills.
Responsibilities
Manage and optimize Oracle databases and other technologies.
Lead and collaborate on database projects and initiatives.
Implement best practices and review new tools and products.
Coordinate data migrations and support global database needs.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of database management, RDBMS, NoSQL, security standards, tuning, backup/recovery, replication, and SQL coding.
Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, OEM, partitioning, sharding, and multiple database technologies.
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication skills.
Ability to multitask, learn new technologies quickly, and work with global teams.
Excellent collaboration and customer service skills.
Security Responsibilities
All activities involving Mastercard assets and information require adherence to security policies, confidentiality, reporting breaches, and completing mandatory security trainings.
