Bakery Assistant

Main Purpose of the Job:Ensure the Bakery Department operates efficiently and effectively at all times.Provide our customers with excellent quality products and customer service.Relevant Skills/Experience:· Previous food preparation and production experience is essential;· Qualified baker is a distinct advantage;· Creative;· Excellent communication skills;· Ability to engage with and prioritise customer needs;· Accuracy, attention to detail, organised and flexible;· Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;· Previous customer service experience is an advantage.Main Duties:Always ensure that customer satisfaction is the number one priority by greeting each customer as if it's their first visit to the store and consistently deliver an exceptional service by displaying I-CARE service excellence behaviours;Bake and finish products to the highest standard in accordance with the product baking guidelines;Ensure merchandising and presentation of Bakery department is of the highest standard at all times and in accordance with relevant store planograms and guidelines;Taste the products, as directed by the Store Owner/Manager or Bakery Manager/Head Baker, so you can confidently engage with customers on the products;Drive sales through in store initiatives;Adhere to weekly stocktaking and daily waste procedures in the Bakery;Have an understanding of product margins;Adhere to production planning and batch control guidelines for bakery products;Follow portion control guidelines;Ensure ordering of stock is carried out in accordance with procedures;Maximise turnover through effective stock rotation and conducting quality and freshness checks;Address problems within the department to ensure consistency, increase margins and reduce waste;Attend relevant training as required and implement learnings in store;Ensuring all HACCP best practices are implemented across the Bakery;Always wear full uniform, name badge and present a neat and tidy appearance at all times;Adhere to all Store rules, policies and procedures at all time;Be familiar and comply with all Health & Safety regulations particularly those pertaining to your role and to report any breaches to store management;Follow procedures in relation to dealing with and reporting spillages, accidents and the prevention of slips, trips and falls;Ensure standard and promotional pricing is maintained correctly;Actively live SuperValu brand-values i.e. Genuine, Passion for Food, Vibrant, Committed, Innovative and Imaginative;Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities that may be assigned to you from time to time.These may be outside of your normal area of work.Furthermore, you may be assigned to work in other areas within the Store on either a temporary or permanent basis.Job Type: Full-timePay: From €***** per hourExpected hours: ******* per weekBenefits:Bike to work schemeCompany pensionEmployee assistance programEmployee discountStore discountWork Location: In person
