Contact Ciaran Hall the consultant managing this role.ATG are working with a leading multidisciplinary environmental consultancy with offices across Ireland.Their mission is to provide expert ecological advice to support sustainable development and the conservation of Ireland's rich biodiversity.Their Ecology team is growing, and ATG are seeking a passionate Woodland Ecologist to join us in delivering high-quality ecological assessments and woodland management solutions.Role OverviewAs a Woodland Ecologist, you will play a key role in supporting habitat and woodland surveys, ecological impact assessments, and biodiversity enhancement projects.You will work closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure compliance with legislation, planning policy, and best-practice conservation strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct habitat, vegetation, and woodland surveys (e.g. NVC/Fossitt, ancient woodland assessment, tree assessments)Prepare ecological assessments and reports (e.g. EcIA, Natura Impact Statements, Biodiversity Management Plans)Provide expert advice on woodland restoration, native woodland creation, and invasive species managementContribute to environmental planning and EIA/AA processes for infrastructure, forestry, and development projectsLiaise with statutory bodies, NGOs, and local authoritiesAssist with project management including scoping, costing, and client communicationSupport junior staff and contribute to team development and trainingStay up to date with relevant legislation, policy, and best practiceKey RequirementsDegree in Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field (MSc desirable)Minimum 2-3 years of relevant professional experience (more for senior roles)Strong field skills in habitat/vegetation classification and woodland ecologyExperience with Irish or UK habitat classification systems (e.g. Fossitt, NVC)Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy (e.g. Habitats Directive, Forestry Standards Manual)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsFull clean driving licence and willingness to travel across IrelandGIS skills and mapping experience an advantageMembership of CIEEM or eligible for membership#J-*****-Ljbffr
