Job Title: General AssistantLocation: Flannery's Nursing Home, County Galway, IrelandReports to: Clinical Nurse Manager / Operations ManagerJob Summary:Flannery's Nursing Home is seeking a dedicated and flexible General Assistant to join our team.The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents.This multi-faceted role involves providing support across our housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen departments.The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic and a compassionate approach to resident care.Key Responsibilities:1. Housekeeping Duties:Perform routine cleaning of resident rooms, en-suites, corridors, and common areas to the highest standards of hygiene.Dust, mop, vacuum, and polish surfaces as required.Ensure all areas are kept tidy and free from hazards.Manage waste disposal in accordance with facility policies.Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols.2. Laundry Duties:Collect, sort, and process residents' personal clothing and facility linens.Operate industrial washing and drying machines safely and efficiently.Iron, fold, and organise clean laundry for distribution.Ensure all laundry is returned to the correct resident or storage area promptly.3. Kitchen Assistant Duties:Assist the Chef and kitchen team with basic food preparation (e.g., washing vegetables, preparing snacks).Assist with the serving of meals and beverages to residents in the dining room or in their rooms, ensuring a positive dining experience.Wash dishes, cutlery, and kitchen utensils, and ensure the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and tidy.Adhere to all food safety (HACCP) standards and guidelines.Person Specification:Essential Requirements:Evidence of eligibility to work in Ireland is required.Strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to take initiative.A kind, respectful, and compassionate attitude towards older people.Physical fitness to handle the demands of the job, including manual handling.Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.Desirable Attributes:Previous experience in a housekeeping, laundry, or catering role.Experience working within a nursing home or healthcare environment.Basic knowledge of infection control and health and safety standards.Working Hours:The position is based on 8-hour shifts.Flexibility is required as the schedule may change to meet the operational needs of the nursing home.Shifts will be rostered across weekdays and weekends.This position does not involve any night shifts.Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: €***** per hourExpected hours: ******* per weekAbility to commute/relocate:Abbeyknockmoy, Tuam, CO.Galway: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Work authorisation:Ireland (required)Work Location: In person
