EXCITING OPPORTUNITY -We have a new opportunity for Senior Instructor -SSDL to work in Galway City, Join our dedicated team, make a difference for the people we support to live their best life.The Senior Instructor SSDL role is based in Galway.Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County.Services provided are day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training and multi-disciplinary supports.The ethos of service provision is underpinned by our Vision, Mission, Core Values and Strategic Plan, which is to empower people with disabilities to live self-directed lives in an equal and inclusive society.Each person is supported and valued within an environment which promotes their overall autonomy, health and wellbeing and enables them to reach their potential.The Role:Write, plan, implement and evaluate programmes/learning modules in a variety of areas including, arts, crafts, social skills, woodwork, cookery, horticulture, and independent living skills depending on service users' preferences and learning ability.Support the SSDL Manager on delivery of modules/courses as required.These courses will include specific skills as well as social development, personal care, and community integration.Ensure that service users individual plans are in line with New Directions Interim standards.Act as Person in Charge in the absence of the SSDL Manager as directed.Essential Criteria:Level 8 qualification in Teaching / Nursing / Applied Social Studies / Social Care / Psychology / Behaviour Analysis.ORLevel 7 relevant studies for role and minimum 4 years' experience working with people with intellectual disabilities including autism.Previous experience working with people with an intellectual disability, complex needs, and communication difficulties.Experience in education/training.An ability to instruct service users in all programmes offered at Adult Day Centres, and QQI modules delivered in Rehabilitative Training.Full current driving license.Desirable Criteria:Experience in developing QQI standard or similar day modules, recording evidence of goals and ambitions.Knowledge of Person Centred planning and managing behaviours that challenge.Training in communication strategiesWhat We Are OfferingAs part of our staff team you will be supported by regular support and supervision and access to the Employee Assistance Program.A wide variety of on the job training with core training interventions like Studio III and medication training.Have an opportunity to work in a person centred organisation and make a positive difference to people's lives and communities.A supportive and inclusive work environment where your ideas and input are valuedThe opportunity to grow and develop professionally in this role through training and experience.Contributory pension scheme of 7%Flexible benefits and above statutory minimumBike to Work SchemeClosing date 22nd September ****Please contact Eimear Joyce SSDL Manager for informal enquiries on
