Company Overview:
Our cient is seeking an experienced and driven Financial Accountant to join their team
This is a key role within the Finance function and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership while overseeing critical financial operations across Ireland and the UK.
Role Summary:
Reporting directly to the CEO & Finance Director, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial information to support business decision-making and ensure regulatory compliance.
The role will involve hands-on management of core finance functions and close collaboration with internal teams and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management: Lead and support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable team (2 direct reports), ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
Bank Reconciliations: Oversee and ensure the accuracy of weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for both Irish and UK entities.
Stock Control: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure robust stock accounting practices.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns, VIES, and Intrastat returns in accordance with Irish and UK tax regulations.
Payroll Oversight: Manage the payroll process for both jurisdictions, ensuring timely and compliant processing.
Month-End Close: Prepare and post monthly journals and assist in closing activities, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
Balance Sheet Integrity: Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and in a timely manner.
Management Reporting: Produce monthly management accounts with variance analysis, commentary, and performance insights.
Audit Support: Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual audits (Ireland and UK), providing necessary documentation and responses.
The Person
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
Proven ability to lead and develop a small finance team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of other MS Office applications.
Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently to meet tight deadlines.
