Overview of role: UPMC Waterford is recruiting a full-time Theatre Housekeeping Operative to maintain high standards of cleanliness across designated areas, ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Clean and maintain designated areas including offices, corridors, stairwells, and staff rooms. Perform dusting, mopping, sweeping, and buffing. Clean toilets and replenish supplies. Dispose of waste and recycling according to site procedures. Refill cleaning materials and report low stock to the supervisor. Operate cleaning machinery (e.g., floor buffer, vacuum cleaner) as trained. Follow health and safety policies. Report maintenance issues or hazards. Ensure all cleaning meets the required standards and is completed on time. Prevent cross-contamination by using equipment only in designated areas. Follow Colour Coding Policy as per Cleaning SOPs. Undertake training as required. Report health and safety concerns. Team: Maintain professionalism and friendliness with colleagues. Be flexible with working hours to cover holidays and sick leave. Work collaboratively to uphold UPMC values. This job description may be reviewed and updated as the hospital's needs evolve.
Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience is desirable. Knowledge of infection control, quality, risk management, and health & safety in a hospital setting. Excellent communication skills.
