Data Engineer Our clients are an innovative environmental solutions company dedicated to driving sustainable change through data-driven insights.
They are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our growing data engineering team on an initial 12-month contract.
This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines and platforms to support our environmental analytics initiatives.
You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to ensure high-quality data delivery, as well as other stakeholders.
The Role: Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and Airflow.
Build and optimize data storage solutions leveraging Delta Lake, Parquet, and other modern data formats.
Develop and manage Spark-based data processing solutions.
Implement best practices in data engineering, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver reliable data solutions.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing data workflows and pipelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data engineering solutions into broader business initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud-based data technologies.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, Azure Data Lake).
Proficiency in building data pipelines with Delta Lake, Parquet, and Spark.
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data modelling, and data warehousing.
