We are seeking a Team Lead to lead and work with a dynamic support team responsible for maintaining and enhancing our database estate.
Reporting to the Application Support Manager, this position has responsibility for the maintenance and development of An Posts database estate and associated technologies.
Examples services include Agency Banking, DSP Payments, State Savings, Mails Customs and 'Click and Post' returns services.
The ideal candidate will provide technical and team leadership, drive service improvements and maintain high levels of availability, security and performance.
They will also manage a pipeline of project related DBA activities.
The successful candidate may be required to go on-call or perform out of hours work as appropriate.
The principal responsibilities associated with the role include, but are not limited, to the following: Provide database administration, security and support across An Post's database portfolio Lead, develop, manage, and work with a team of skilled DBAs Utilise your DBA expertise and skills to collaborate with the team and contribute to its success Work with team to cultivate appropriate high availability, backup/recovery, and DR models Monitor and manage security, performance and capacity Utilise enterprise toolsets to proactively monitor systems; optimise logging and alerting Manage project and operational demand pipeline and provide DBA expertise to project teams Manage database patching, modernisation and upgrade/lifecycle paths Build/maintain relationships with industry partners to ensure we are up to date with industry practices and trends Collaborate with team to identify, evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance database support Build and maintain Knowledge Management library of KM docs, Runbooks and SOPs Utilise and embed continuous improvement; automate or eliminate manual low-value tasks Manage and resolve incidents utilising ITIL-based Incident and Problem Management Demonstrate An Post values and behaviours in your day to day work and interactions The ideal candidate will possess a relevant third level qualification (or equivalent technical/industry qualification).
They should have 5+ years relevant technical IT experience in a DB environment, ideally including 2+ years in a Cloud environment.
They will have an awareness and understanding of An Post Retail and Commerce services, applications and data.
They should possess good interpersonal skills to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
You should have the ability to work flexibly with changing priorities.
Leadership experience would be an advantage.
Experience and knowledge of the following is essential: Oracle databases, Oracle Cloud and associated technologies Microsoft SQL Server databases and associated technologies Microsoft Azure SQL Database environment and Azure automation technologies and pipelines Database security principles, encryption, and access controls High availability, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery models DB Management, Monitoring and alerting tools Knowledge Management, Incident and Problem Management Industry standards such as ISO 27001 and PCI DSS, CIS Experience and knowledge of the following is desirable: Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills COSMOS, Pegasus DB Agile/SCRUM and/or Dev Ops environments.
