Team Horizon is seeking a Chief Medical Scientist Microbiology for our client based in Kildare.
The role involves managing the diagnostic microbiology laboratory and collaborating with Consultant Microbiologists, Laboratory Management, Medical Scientists, and laboratory staff.
Responsibilities: Coordinate the clinical microbiology diagnostic service to ensure timely and high-standard patient results.
Lead scientific staff, ensuring appropriate skill mix for a safe and quality-focused service.
Participate in maintaining the ISO quality management system to ensure safe patient care.
Maintain professional competency and act ethically in all duties.
Promote staff development through self-learning, courses, and training.
Develop, review, and update policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Monitor and interpret quality standards and participate in troubleshooting and resolving abnormalities.
Engage in internal and external quality control and assurance programs, and evaluate assays, equipment, and consumables as required.
Requirements: BSc (minimum QQI Level 8) in clinical science and laboratory medicine.
Eligible for membership of the ACSLM with at least 3 years of experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory, including 2 years in a senior role.
Experience in clinical microbiology and knowledge of ISO accreditation.
