The ideal candidate will be involved in the exciting development of our Alternative Respite Programme to develop it into meaningful breaks for families and play a role in developing the lives of Children and Adults who attend Alternative Respite services.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and willing to think outside the box to encourage and support individuals to reach their full potential.
This role is community based and will require travel among Kare locations and across the community, supporting our Service Users.
Duties Play an integral role in the development, implementation and evaluation of Individual Support Plans Work as part of a team to organise and plan meaningful day and overnight respite to children and adults across our services Liaise with families and form relationships within the organisation, promote inclusion and provide an encouraging person-centred environment to Children and Adults with Disabilities Maintain effective communication with the team, families and an individuals support network Support individuals in all aspects of their daily lives, including personal care, health, behaviours, education, etc Maintain all necessary records in accordance with Kares policies Travel between Kare locations and across the community for the purpose of supporting Service Users Requirements Social Care Assistants - Minimum Qualification: QQI Level 5 Intellectual Disability Practice / Social Care / Community Support Worker Programme - (at least 3 modules completed but must include Intellectual Disability) Social Care Workers - Minimum Qualification: Level 7 Social Care Degree or equivalent AND must provide proof of current CORU/NMBI registration OR proof of eligibility to register Essential - A full, clean, manual driving licence and access to your own vehicle Must be eligible to work in Ireland without sponsorship An understanding of: Person Centred Planning, Advocacy, Childrens First, Safeguarding & Risk Management Experience supporting people with challenging behaviours and the use of positive behaviour support plans Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, organisational & initiative skills Strong IT skills and the ability to carry out administrative tasks The ability to build trusting and respectful relationships Enjoy working on your own with a person with an intellectual disability Previous experience working with children is an advantage Benefits Social Care Assistant Rate: €16.62 to €23.17 (Point of scale depending on experience) plus Premiums Social Care Worker Rate: €19.70 to €27.66 (Point of scale depending on experience) plus Premiums Generous annual leave Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave (subject to service) Federation of Voluntary Bodies Pension Scheme: Employer 7% & Employee 5% contributions Optional Salary Protection Plan Rewarding work with flexible hours Employee Assistance Programme and local Employee Discounts Personal Development, Professional Growth and Career Progression Closing date for applications is 2nd July 2025.
