ESB is appointing a Data Protection Officer (DPO) in line with obligations. We are now looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Data Protection Specialist to work within the Data Protection Office to ensure ESB's ongoing compliance with Data Protection Laws, through the application of specialist knowledge and management capabilities.

Position

You will work closely with staff across the Group to ensure a "Privacy by Design" approach in the design and execution of processes involving personal data. You will play a key role in responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and breaches, and in assisting the DPO and ESB in managing data protection queries, complaints and incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the Group Data Protection Office in responsibilities for SARs (first line) and breaches (second line).
  • Stakeholder engagement by supporting the DPO in interactions with external regulators, external peers, Business Unit Data Owners and key internal projects.
  • Collaborate with ESB data protection first line teams and colleagues in Group Legal, Procurement, Cyber Security, Data Management and Governance, Data Science, AI and ITD to promote awareness and best practice.
  • Implementation of the assurance framework, reviewing first line processes, challenging the effectiveness of controls, and highlighting areas of concern.
  • Supporting the DPO in preparing assurance reports for governance meetings, including KPI performance and areas of concern.
  • Monitor external developments related to data privacy laws; highlight new risks, assist in risk assessment, update ESB's Data Protection framework and communicate changes to stakeholders.
  • Participate in investigations and audits related to data protection as requested.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience, with ideally 2-3 years' specialist Data Protection or related experience
  • Aptitude towards IT and business process design
  • Experience with execution of compliance or regulatory projects
  • Ability to work with highly confidential documents and information
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, reporting, analytical and documentation skills
  • Continued Professional Development is essential
Desirable
  • Data Protection certifications would be an advantage
  • Legal or Internal Audit experience would be an advantage

Salary

€57,900 - €68,100 per annum (depending on experience)
