Overview

EHS International, on behalf of our client, is recruiting a Health and Safety Coordinator for a 12-month fixed term contract based in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon, with some travel to additional sites. This role is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with 1–2 years' experience who is eager to gain further exposure in the food and manufacturing sector.

Our client is a long-established co-operative business with operations across Ireland. It employs over 700 people and is active in multiple sectors including dairy processing, food distribution, agriculture, retail, e-commerce, and nutrition. The organisation plays a key role in supporting rural communities and has a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will report to the site Health & Safety Specialist and will coordinate health and safety activities across the business. This is a hands-on, varied role offering strong development potential for someone at an early stage of their career.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the implementation of H&S procedures, policies, and compliance programmes.
  2. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation, codes, standards, and industry best practice.
  3. Assist in inspections, risk assessments, training needs analysis, PPE surveys, and occupational hygiene assessments.
  4. Record, monitor, and support investigations of incidents and accidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  5. Prepare monthly incident and accident reports for management.
  6. Work with occupational health providers to manage and communicate workplace health risks.
  7. Maintain accurate H&S records using company systems, including SharePoint.
  8. Monitor site-specific KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement.
  9. Deliver or coordinate training and induction programmes on H&S issues.
  10. Publish regular communications to promote awareness of safety best practice.
  11. Collaborate with the wider H&S team across multiple sites.
Candidate Profile
  • Degree or higher qualification in Occupational Safety and Health (or equivalent).
  • 1–2 years' experience in a health and safety role, ideally within food, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new systems.
  • Flexible and proactive approach.

  • Contract Type: 12-month fixed term contract
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
