Legal Director, Global Employment and Workforce

We're looking for a highly talented Lawyer with proven commercial, employment, and managerial skills to be part of our global legal team and act as the legal lead of Payoneer's employment law team. The Senior Legal Manager, Global Employment & Workforce should be a legal generalist with proven professional and leadership skills who will lead a global team of employment lawyers and legal operations specialists who provide employment and corporate secretarial support in relation to Payoneer's global services.

This role will report to Payoneer's VP, Legal Affairs.

What's the Job?

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a global team of employment and corporate lawyers who provide legal advice and support to Payoneer's various stakeholders globally in connection with payroll and employment matters, with a particular focus on corporate, regulatory, and labor laws in various jurisdictions. The primary responsibilities are:

1. Oversee and lead a global team of employment and corporate lawyers.
2. Provide professional direction and oversight in the areas of labor laws, employment regulations, corporate secretary services, entity management, and global expansion.
3. Provide guidance on employment law matters, including overall compliance requirements, drafting and ongoing review of employment and similar agreements, employee administration, HR policies, and related dispute resolution.
4. Advise on corporate governance matters, including corporate secretarial tasks and policies.
5. Ensure compliance with data protection laws in relation to employee data under applicable laws globally.
6. Identify potential legal risks in employment practices and provide strategic mitigation advice.
7. Work closely with stakeholders from various departments and external service providers to effectively support Payoneer's global business.
8. Oversee and ensure compliance with global employment laws and regulations, as well as any regulatory requirement applicable to global payroll, employment, and corporate matters.

What are we looking for?

1. Qualified lawyer/solicitor with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school.
2. At least 10 years of post-admission experience as a lawyer at a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
3. At least 3+ years' experience in leadership/management in a global company.
4. Strong knowledge of global employment regulations, specifically related to remote workers and global payroll services.
5. Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse, global team.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
7. Innovative thinker with the ability to make decisions independently.
8. Collaborative team player experienced at working with cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions and with flexibility to align with colleagues in different time zones.
9. Excellent English professional language skills.
10. Ability to proactively identify relevant business and legal issues, evaluate the risks and suggest creative solutions.
11. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and take ownership of projects and tasks.
12. Experience in the workforce management/Payroll industry – an advantage.
