Job Description:

Environmental Geoscientist / Hydrogeologist

RPS is seeking applications for the position of Environmental Geoscientist / Hydrogeologist to join our Sustainability Team in Ireland (ROI). Our team works on projects across sectors including renewable energy, circular economy, public infrastructure, manufacturing, and commercial development. We provide high-quality, commercially focused solutions to environmental challenges, including monitoring programmes, site investigations, risk assessments, contaminated land remediation, and support to EPA licensed facilities. RPS specializes in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping future environmental, social, and economic landscapes. About The Team:

Our team has extensive experience in brownfield geo-environmental assessments, focusing on risks to waters, habitats, and health. Our members come from diverse backgrounds including civil and environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, and ecology. About The Role:

You will work on a variety of projects to develop your understanding of geo-environmental assessment methods, policies, and legislation at local and national levels. You will collaborate with senior colleagues across RPS units (Water, Transport, Geotechnical), support data assessment, technical reporting, research, conceptual site modeling, site visits, and project management. Responsibilities include designing and supervising investigations, liaising with subcontractors and clients, environmental monitoring, site walkovers, and preparing environmental management and impact assessment documents.

About You:

  • Highly motivated with ambition to grow in the geo-environmental sector.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Effective time management and project prioritization skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally for site supervision and walkovers.
  • Current member of a professional body (e.g., IGI, IAH) working towards chartered status.
  • Strong team player with good social and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; skills in ArcMap, QGIS, HoleBASE, MODFLOW, AutoCAD are preferred.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental management, with current SafePass and First Aid qualifications.
  • Full clean driving license.

Key Skills / Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in geo-environmental roles, including contaminated land risk assessment, ground investigation oversight, and environmental liability communication. Experience with remediation technologies, environmental risk assessments, and producing high-standard reports and drawings. Familiarity with Irish roles such as PSCS/PSDP and a relevant degree (BA/BSc/BE) in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Geology, or Environmental Engineering, with a Master's preferred.
