About The Opportunity
Our Town Planning team sits within the Water and Environment Operating Unit - a unit with approximately 1,000 professionals covering over 30 disciplines across Ireland and the UK. Planning services is of critical importance to our clients, ensuring that major projects can proceed to successful planning outcomes, whilst utilising best practice and creative approaches to problem solving.
The sustained growth of town planning services across our Dublin, Belfast and Cork offices requires a town planner in Dublin with in-depth experience to support and develop our increasing portfolio of projects. The main purpose of the role is to service our frameworks with key public sector clients, to expand planning services for Jacobs and to deliver planning advice and solutions across the company's full portfolio of high profile infrastructure projects including BusConnects Client Partner. You will be an advocate for Jacobs in developing the planning and environmental function in Ireland.
BusConnects is a strategic national-level intervention for Ireland that will enhance sustainable transportation and the environment by upgrading walking, cycling and bus infrastructure in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Waterford. We have been appointed by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as their Client Partner to deliver Dublin's BusConnects infrastructure. This will include providing programme management and multi-disciplinary expertise over a 10-year programme to deliver 12 schemes comprising 230 kilometres of continuous bus priority corridors and 200 kilometres of cycle paths and improved pedestrian facilities from procurement through to handover of this new infrastructure. The role would suit someone from a civil engineering background with specific experience on highways/roads.

Here's what you'll need
- A recognised planning qualification (IPI or RTPI)
- A sound knowledge of Irish town planning legislation and practice including their application through infrastructure projects, policies and programmes
- An ability to identify relevant environmental, social and economic policy and legislation and use it to scope and develop appropriate consenting route
- Experience of bidding/tendering for internal and external opportunities and strong commercial awarenes
- An ability to build positive and responsive working relationships with internal and external client
- Experience of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and how it applies to major development projects
