Do you want to help us build the DNA of tech? Vishay Siliconix Ireland is currently seeking applicants for a Senior Staff Characterization Engineer for our IC product line.

Responsible for: As a Sr. Characterization Engineer, you will contribute to the success of Vishay by working together with design, product, test and applications engineering to ensure that Vishay's proprietary power device product ICs are robust, spec compliant and suitable for volume production.

Job Location: This position is located in Cork, Ireland. Limerick, Ireland, may also be considered.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop IC characterization strategies, covering both ATE and bench level characterization environments as appropriate.
  • Documentation of comprehensive silicon characterization plan.
  • Project management, planning and status tracking.
  • Structured issue tracking & reporting.
  • Develop strategies for accelerated lifetime testing.
  • Reliability test including HTOL and skew-lot test.
  • Participation and design of dedicated HW to support IC characterization steps.
  • Automation of lab-based setup for robust, repeatable, high quality data result gathering and analysis.
  • Extensive collaboration with both design and test engineering teams for detailed circuit analysis and root cause analysis of unexpected or erroneous results.
  • AC timing characterization of customer proprietary communications interfaces.

You will have a comprehensive, demonstrable background in power semiconductors / semiconductor physics and/or electronics engineering. You will approach tasks in a logic-based way, along with having the ability and motivation to develop novel and creative ideas. Your communication skills will enable seamless collaboration both with our manufacturing partners and internally, and you will know how to build and maintain lasting relationships in international and cross-functional project teams.

What You Will Bring Along:

  • PhD, post-graduate or degree qualification in Electronic Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years' relevant engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience in the development and ownership of comprehensive characterization plans.
  • Experience in the management of a structured, organized, lab environment.
  • Extensive experience in measurement, and ability to root-cause silicon issues.
  • Emphasis on data quality, repeatability of test steps and robustness of test environment.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and communications skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of power conversion.
  • Experience of working in wide-ranging roles and flexible environments.
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to support and mentor less experienced team members.
