Role/ Department

As part of the Custody Tax Operations team, the Tax Analyst is at the centre of the International withholding tax processing. Reporting to the Team leader, responsibilities will be to ensure that team requests, records, and manages Northern Trust's client tax documentation, and accurately identifies, processes, and tracks opportunities for the reduction of withholding tax on behalf of Northern Trust's global client base. The role will require responding quickly and professionally to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner with a focus on continually improving the service offered to clients.

The Key Responsibilities Of The Role Include

  1. Take on assigned tasks from the Team Leader and Senior members of the team.
  2. Process, scan, record, distribute, and file large volumes of documentation received by the team on a daily basis.
  3. Processing of information and documentation to ensure maximum tax benefits for Northern Trust's global client base.
  4. Escalate issues as appropriate in a timely manner.
  5. Work closely with the relevant contacts within the scope of the process, to provide the best possible service, responding to queries and escalating as appropriate.
  6. Be aware of all service level agreements in place.
  7. Continuously support the team to meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of all clients.
  8. Demonstrate a strong willingness to assist others when required, building effective relationships with members of the team and other teams as well.
  9. Review processes to identify areas for automation or improved workflow.
  10. Preparation and filing of WHT reclaims.

Skills/ Qualifications

  1. A strong educational background - Business/Tax or similar qualification.
  2. Bright, articulate, and entrepreneurial with a demonstrated ability to navigate through obstacles, work under pressure, and successfully deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-moving business environment.
  3. Demonstrated client servicing capabilities and excellent communication skills.
  4. Must be resilient to pressure and have the ability to adapt quickly.
  5. Accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
  6. Numerically competent with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  7. Good core IT skills – Adobe, Excel, MS Office, Word, etc.
  8. Ability to work within a team environment.
