Responsibilities
  • Maintain and extend NSAI quality management/verification systems in accordance with ISO 17021 and ISO 17029 and the various accreditation body and designating authority rules and guidelines.
  • Support Management and Division Team Members in the development and implementation of new quality/verification systems into the future.
  • Develop and implement robust audit and management system oversight programs to ensure state of the art risk management practices are implemented in all areas, particularly those that do not require external oversight.
  • Serve as contact point for all related accreditation bodies and designating authorities and ensure timely response to all requested information, data and general queries.
  • Support audit preparation activities and documentation preparation for internal and accreditation audits, and witness audits, as well as follow up activities and all relationship management activities with the accreditation body. Plan and organise internal audit activities and report on the results to local and executive management. Ensure audit processes achieve value (measured in improvement to efficiency, effectiveness and lean management).
  • Organize, update, manage and evaluate the organization's document control systems to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and to optimize process efficiency.
  • Coordinate activities with Operations Managers to ensure timely completion and closure of internal and external corrective actions, complaints, feedback, preventive actions and facilitate the investigation of quality systems issues, identify trends and causes and ensure that corrective active measures are implemented to address the issues.
  • Chair the Management Review Meetings and provide the requirement reporting on the performance of the management system against its policies, objectives and process metrics. Ensure actions arising from Management Review meetings are tracked and actioned in a timely manner.
  • Manage the competency programs to ensure that the systems and supporting documentation are in place to identify competence criteria and demonstrate compliance with the documented competency criteria.
  • For the certification management and verification systems, provide feedback to NSAI's Risk Management system and timely updates when circumstances are changed.
  • Where required, provide support to NSAI Inc. to ensure that there is convergence (where possible and meeting accreditation body requirements).
  • Represent NSAI on external committees where required.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required by the Department Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering and/or scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct Quality Management Systems experience including the management of internal or external audit programs.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management system requirements for certification bodies including ISO 17021 and/or ISO 9001. Knowledge of verification systems e.g. ISO 17029 is desirable.
  • Good practical knowledge of quality techniques which may include lean, SPC, risk analysis / FMEA, control plans, flow charting, Ishikawa analysis, process approach etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with CAPA systems including the identification of root cause/corrections/corrective actions.
  • Knowledge and experience with Document Control Systems including the development and reporting on performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels internal and external to NSAI.

  • Ability to manage improvements to the management systems to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Strong writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and co-ordination skills.
  • Ability to handle relationships with external agencies.
