RSK Ireland, part of RSK Group, offers a wide range of environmental consultancy services including hydrology, hydrogeology, soils, geology, noise, ecology, and biodiversity.

The company now has an exciting opportunity for a Senior / Principal Hydrologist to join the team in Dublin or Cork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical leadership within the Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Land, Soils, and Geology Team.
  • Preparing technical reports for environmental impact assessments, licensing, and compliance monitoring.
  • Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments (Stage 1, Stage II, and Stage III).
  • Designing and coordinating environmental sampling and monitoring programs.
  • Conducting field-based works such as surface water and groundwater monitoring, trial pitting, drilling, geophysical surveys, peat probing, and gouge coring.
  • Mentoring team members and advising on recruitment.
  • Providing expert witness testimony at hearings or judicial reviews if needed.
  • Maintaining technical skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Handling administrative tasks like time recording, invoicing, health and safety, and developing templates.
  • Responding to tenders and developing proposals.

Person Specification:

  • Honours degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, Geoscience, or related field.
  • At least 4+ years' experience for Senior level or 8+ years' for Principal level.
  • Experience with Flood Risk Assessment software.
  • Chartered status or willingness to pursue it.
  • Post-graduate/MSc degree is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of environmental legislation and guidance.
  • Experience providing environmental services at a senior level with strong analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and business development outlook.
  • Full clean driving license.
