Overview

Care Assistant / Support Worker – Specific Purpose Contract, Full-Time. Location: South Dublin - Residential Roster. Salary: €33,556 - €42,034 plus Premium Payments up to €12,000/year. Upcoming Salary Increases: Sector-wide agreement with a 9.25% increase over the next two years. Driving Licence: Full, clean manual licence required.

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and imaginative Care Assistant / Support Worker to join our Residential team in North Kildare. The role includes sleepover shifts as part of the weekly rota (Monday to Sunday). Service users attend for community-based residential supports in busy homes with a mix of home and community-based activities. The ideal candidate will support individuals with autism, promoting wellbeing and independence while working under HIQA guidelines and standards. You will produce, implement and evaluate practical resources and strategies to support communication and thinking, maintain assessment documentation, and support progress planning. You will also work with Practitioners to develop independent living skills, education and employment possibilities and social/leisure groups.

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centred support to individuals with autism in residential and community settings.
  • Promote independence and maximize quality of life; support daily living, education, employment and social/leisure activities.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate resources and strategies to support communication and thinking; maintain progress notes and support plans.
  • Support independent living skills and community integration; assist with education and employment possibilities and social/leisure groups.
  • Work across Monday to Sunday with sleepover shifts as part of the weekly rota.
  • Ensure wellbeing and safety in line with HIQA guidelines and standards.
Essential Qualifications
  • FETAC Major Level 5 Qualification in Social Care or Qualification in Health or Social Science.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills; experience supporting individuals with ASD.
  • Ability to promote independence, work under pressure, use initiative and meet deadlines.
  • Full, clean manual driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of case management; developing support plans and carrying out reviews.
  • Flexibility; willingness to develop professional skills through supervision and CPD; information technology skills; ability to liaise with community services.
